So...not our typical Wednesday night. We decided to venture to Native to see a good friend of ours,Malik and his crew, DJ. AMAZING! so glad to know there is still some good music in this town. Native has started this Wednesday night theme night called "AFRO UNDERGROUND". It has this old school soul vibe with a little classic R&B mixed with what I think produces this uncontrollable groove factor. And I love a good beat.
On to the fashion. I couldn't decide what to wear, and if you know me, you know that I tend to spend a ridiculous amount of time staring into my closet with this issue.
Tyler (my inspiration for looking adorable) says "how about you go make something?" I respond with "Babe we have to leave in 30 minutes!", he says "you can make something in 20 minutes right?"
So, here you go people, my 30 minute shirt.....some fine tuning would be nice, but as Tyler often tells me that I'm the only one thats obsessive enough to notice. Either way, it got the job done. And it's always nice to know I have on one of my own.

My husband, Tyler, and I are big fans of thrifting. When we moved to California four years ago, it was just about all we ever did. Fast forward to now, we both work full time and are starting our own businesses, so our free time isn't as free as it used to be. I've had the itch to do some lately, so last Sunday we ventured out with hopes of finding some thrift stores open. After passing by 3 or 4 of our first choices we ended up at the Goodwill on S. Higuera. I was surprised to see how much they cleaned up the place, it's been such a dump in the past, but everything was super organized. In true Miss Kate order, too, first by item, then by color (my OCD heaven). Tyler stopped immediately at the mens pants, and I made a beeline for the shoes. Why? because for some reason I've had the best luck with thrift shoes, specifically BOOTS. Anyone who knows me is jealous for this gift...and soon you will be too.
Now rewind four years again. My first time in this Goodwill, and what do I find, These:
sz 7 Dingos, Killer condition

Now back to last Sunday. I've been craving a pair of brown low Biker Boots, something I could wear to work, which I'm on my feet all day. And as I search the rows, Tyler comes to see if I've found anything....Nope, and then I turn around to see these beauties staring at me:
sz 7 A. Eagle's, I don't think they've ever been worn...but they will now

So, basically this Goodwill is alright in my book! Just you wait to see the pics of the sweater I found.

So I decided to venture out this evening. We had a bit of rain this week (so before I go further, let me express to you how spoiled we are...we have the most amazing weather 335 days of the year, the other 30, are in feb and march raining, we are so stinking spoiled that when it starts to rain everyone in the central coast thinks the world is combusting....aka, not prepared. Me being from NY, I am very excited, layers, boots, scarves....so many possibilities)...I digress, so we went out, sad to see that people in SLO are not as creative in the cold and wet as they are when its nice. Why? No clue. Ok so here are a couple of run ins, with whom I'm very proud. 1st being Vera....ok, so Vera is one of those people in your life who you met through others, but always seems to put a smile on your face, I mean that kind of girl you wish you had in your pocket..all the time for a bit of pep...GORGEOUS! And I absolutely adore that fact she is ROCKING a fanny-pack!
The next..well, lets call him "Brian", Why? because one of our friends thought it might be funny to tell us his name was Brian, far from it. Sweetheart though...and so stinkin' adorable. What do you think?

NYLONs Idea of Representation

Ok,so before I begin my rant, let me assure you that I am an avid reader, lover, and supporter of NYLON magazine. An image caught my eye in this last October issue, a very Olivia Palermo (bitch from the 1st season, underdog for the 2nd of The City) ensemble.
Anyway...it was a pale grey tailored jacket and pant suit (see image above). So a quick explanation...Natalie Wood, the womens designer and art director for one of my long loved brands Insight, also has her own label called SOMETHING ELSE...aka my new obsession. Here are a couple of shots that I think are a better representation of her line.

This blog is my way of letting others into my world, to see what motivates/ inspires me, with hopes of bringing a little of that festivity to someone else.
